Rosemary Herb
Rosemary is a perennial herb that is native to the Mediterranean region and is widely used in cooking for its aromatic flavor. Although rosemary is usually grown outdoors, it can be grown indoors as well. The plant requires a lot of sunlight and a precise watering schedule to ensure that the soil stays moist without getting waterlogged. Trailing varieties of the plant, such as ‘Blue Rain’ and ‘Huntington Carpet’, are especially good for indoor growing.
- Sunlight: Rosemary requires at least six hours of direct sunlight per day. If you can’t provide your rosemary plants with enough sunlight, then you’ll need to supplement with artificial light. Full-spectrum LED lighting is an affordable option that comes closest to providing the full-spectrum illumination that plants get from sunlight.
- Watering: Rosemary should be watered when the soil feels dry to the touch. Be sure not to overwater the plant as it can lead to root rot.
- Temperature: Rosemary thrives in temperatures between 50°F and 80°F .
- Soil: Rosemary prefers well-draining soil that is slightly acidic with a pH between 6.0 and 7.0.
- Fertilizer: Fertilize your rosemary plant once every two weeks with a balanced fertilizer during the growing season (spring and summer)
Rosemary is rich in antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds. It is also known to aid in digestion, improve brain health, reduce stress and anxiety, and even boost the immune system. If you’re looking to grow rosemary indoors, here are some tips to get you started:
