Tomato is a flowering plant of the nightshade family, cultivated extensively for its edible fruits. The fruits are commonly eaten raw, served as a cooked vegetable, used as an ingredient of prepared dishes, pickled, or processed. The plant typically grows to 1–3 meters (3–10 ft) in height and has a weak stem that sprawls and typically needs support.
